JUSTIN THOMAS HEADLINES WFC 33, PROFESSIONAL BOXING IN BATON ROUGE

BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA — January 10th, 2015— World Fighting Championships returns to the Belle of Baton Rouge for yet another exciting night of professional boxing, featuring the best local talent that The Capital City has to offer. WFC 33 action goes down on January 17th, when Justin Thomas (10-0, 5 KOs) looks to start the new year the same way he entered: with a perfect record.

Thomas, a local fan favorite who has excited the hometown crowd from walkout to finish each time, looks to keep his impressive record unbroken. “I’m very blessed to have the support I have and it continues to motivate me to be my best in the ring. I’m looking to be a world champion in the next few years. Beating David Lujan is another step I have to take in that direction.”

The co-main event features another great matchup when local favorite Chris Singleton enters the ring with a 13-0, 6 KOs, record. Singleton has never lost in his home court with his only loss occurring two fights ago in California. Singleton faces another local in Gary Bergeron who enters with a 12-12, 7 KOs, record. This fight promises action as both fighters deliver big punching power and exciting styles.

The card features a total of 9 fights that includes the best Louisiana has to offer. Marcus McDaniel (12-0) Jay Williams (3-3), Chad Trahan (7-1), Robert Hill (2-4) Justin Verdin (9-3), and Samotheous Parker (debut) are just some of the fighters putting their best on the line that evening.

President of WFC, Matt McGovern, is always excited about the direction that boxing is taking in the Baton Rouge and is proud to have World Fighting Championships be the staple boxing promotion in the area. Said the young promoter, “We’ve had over a dozen sold out events between MMA and boxing in Baton Rouge. It’s great to see the crowds and hear the support for each of the local fighters. This is why I do these events – the excitement at the Belle of Baton Rouge is unmatched.”

The official WFC 33 weigh-in will take place on Friday, January 16th at the Belle of Baton Rouge Atrium at 5:30 CST. The weigh-in is open to the public.

Tickets are priced at $60 for VIP, and $30 for general admission, and are available via the WFC website at worldfightingchampionships.com. Fans are encouraged to buy tickets early, as the last eights events at the Belle have sold out.

Doors to the Atrium at the Belle of Baton Rouge open at 7:00 p.m. on fight night. First bell is at 8:00 p.m.
