WFC 38 Official Press Release

HENDERSON, NV, MARCH 10TH, 2015 – World Fighting Championships is proud to announce a new venue partnership with Las Vegas’ premier local casino group, Station Casinos. WFC 38 goes live at the Sunset Station Outdoor Amphitheater on April 24th, 2015 featuring three title fights with tons of the best local amateur mixed martial arts athletes.

“We love getting the opportunity to bring our exciting brand of MMA back to Southern Nevada. I live in Henderson and can’t say enough how great this new venue partnership with Station Casinos is going to be for everyone. The venue is absolutely beautiful; we have some amazing fighters committed to this card. WFC 38 is going to be huge.” – Matt McGovern, President, World Fighting Championships.

The main event features a world amateur lightweight title fight between Cody Monsalve and Jesus Moreno. Monsalve enters the cage with three wins, one loss, owning two vicious knockouts on past World Fighting Championships fight cards. Moreno, a perfect 4 win, 0 losses record, hails from Joe Stevenson’s Cobra Kai. Monsalve, just 19 years old last month, is on a fast track to turn professional.  Both fighters claim ownership of the title belt making this a must see event.

Two more title fights round out the top of the fight card. The co-main event features two heavyweights each seeking to make quick finishes of the other. Jason Preston owns a 12 fight record with 6 wins, 6 losses. His opponent, Dan Lewis, is just as experienced with a 9 fight, 6 win, 3 loss record of his own.

If the power of two heavyweights battling for a title doesn’t excite you, then on the other end of the spectrum two lightening quick bantamweights collide for the amateur world title. Richard Camargo, a perfect 5 win, 0 loss record, meets Andres Ponce, 7 wins, 4 losses. They round out the top end of a completely stacked fight card.

Many new faces join some WFC veterans who made the 2014 WFC highlight reel of finishes: Sarah Jane, Enzo Perez, John Buttner, Vlad Martinez, Kalecia Weisbarth, Lucas Hill, Jason May, Jesus Garcia, Chad Senatore, Grant Prestwidge, Solomon Frantz, and many more!

The official WFC 38 weigh-in will take place on Thursday, April 23rd inside the Sunset Station Casino at 6pm. The weigh-ins are free and open to the public with fans encouraged to attend and support their fighters.

Tickets start at $27 for general admission and are available through the WFC website at worldfightingchampionships.com. Fans are encouraged to buy tickets early, as the best seats sell out early.

Gates open at 7:00 p.m. on fight night. First fight is at 8:00 p.m.
